This Institute for Christian Living will feature three courses for adults aimed at enriching our understanding, our skills in parenting, and our knowledge of biblical times and texts. Childcare will be provided. ICL meets from 11:30am-12:30pm on Sundays.
Please note that you are welcome to attend a different class each week!
Raising God’s Children (Rm. 106) deals with a variety of topics that address issues of child-rearing. Our presenters have experience and expertise to share for all parents, grandparents and interested adults. This is a four week course. For a week-by-week schedule, click here.
The Four Quartets (Rm. 104) class will explore the seminal TS Eliot poem of the same name. To read Eliot’s Four Quartets is to meditate on the great themes of God’s relationship to humans, the philosophy of time, the nature of redemption and the nature of poetry itself. It is a poetic meditation that weaves motifs of other great thinkers and writers, such as Dante, Julian of Norwich, St. John of the Cross, the Bhagavad Gita and pre-Socratic philosophy. Those who engage the poem rarely find themselves unchanged. This four-week course will explore the entire poem. For a week-by-week schedule, click here.
In Archaeology, Jesus and the Resurrection (Lounge), we will examine how the Dead Sea Scrolls provide insights into the life of Jesus and his followers, how archaeology informs our understanding of ancient Galilee and Judea, how crucifixion functioned within Roman imperial practices and how the notion of resurrection developed and evolved in ancient Judaism. This is a seven week course. For a week-by-week schedule, you may click on the above flyer. For more detail, click here.
