In 2011, our congregation sponsored a delegation to visit the church in Nepal, hosted by Manoj and Kalpana Shrestha, who have been a part of our congregation for many years. Our hearts sank to learn about the devastation wrought by a 7.9 earthquake there. Our Mission Committee has approved collecting an offering this Sunday for Nepal relief, one half of which will go to Presbyterian Disaster Assistance work in Nepalthe other half will be forwarded through Manoj Shrestha to two church organizations:

Koinonia Social Service – This is a sister organization of Kononia Patan Church, which is also a government registered non-profit organization involved in social works like blood donation, community support, old age home, orphanage etc.  Koinonia Social Service has been focused on areas such as Sindhupalchowk, Sankhu, Lele which are heavily affected. They are distributing the funds using the network of sister churches of Koinonia Patan Church.

National Mission Commission of Nepal – They are missionary training and sending organization. They have pastors/missionary working in various parts of Nepal. They will be distributing basic food items to various locations by utilizing the network of the local pastors/missionary.
