Things break down or need to be replaced at unexpected times, but the cost is often too large to be absorbed by the annual budget. The Elijah Capital Maintenance Fund will help us address medium-sized projects that arise over the next several years.
The income from this fund will not be a regular budgeted item; instead it will be reinvested until a need arises. The interest and the principal may be expended with the consent of Session. It is meant to be a long-term fund and only in extraordinary circumstances would the entire amount be spent.
As with other special funds, additional contributions will be accepted to maintain and grow the Elijah Capital Maintenance Fund. Our hope is that like Elijah’s miraculous jar, these funds will provide an ongoing way to meet unanticipated needs, and future generations will be motivated to replenish and sustain the fund.
If you have any questions about the campaign, please contact Jeanne Aicher or Jeff Vamos in the church office or one of the co-chairs for the campaign: Bill Haines or Tom Wilfrid. (Wendy Simpson is temporarily out of town.)
