The job of Nehemiah, the Old Testament leader, was to rebuild Jerusalem after it has been destroyed. Our church has been engaged for some years–with bodies and sweat as well as money–in projects to build and rebuild housing in Trenton. In the campaign’s second priority level, we will establish a modest Nehemiah Fund for Trenton Housing, to partner with Isles during the campaign period (2008-10) to rebuild a block in Trenton. As with other special funds, additional contributions will be accepted to maintain and grow the Nehemiah Fund.
Isles is an exceptional nonprofit organization in Trenton. Its mission is to foster self-sufficient families living in healthy, sustainable communities. Isles has embarked on a block-by-block effort to reclaim areas in downtown Trenton for quality affordable housing. Once again, our congregation will contribute our hands-on labor and sweat as well as money for materials.
If you have any questions about the campaign, please contact Jeanne Aicher or Jeff Vamos in the church office or one of the co-chairs for the campaign: Bill Haines or Tom Wilfrid. (Wendy Simpson is temporarily out of town.)
