Stewardship 2022: “Give, and It Will Be Given”
Giving is a part of a joyful Christian life and being charitable is part of what makes us who we are. While the financial needs of our church are ever present, as Christians, our focus first and foremost should be on the joy that comes from sharing our resources. With this in mind, our committee has changed our name to the Generosity Team. The team’s primary mission is to promote generosity ‘for’ our congregation, not just ‘from’ our congregation. In this way, we enable everyone to experience the fruitfulness of giving and the joy that comes from using our resources for the benefit of God’s Kingdom.
Jesus says in Luke 6:38, “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put in your lap.”
And while as Christians we don’t offer our gifts in expectation of worldly returns, our generosity is far from a mere obligation. Managing God’s bounty is an every-minute opportunity to express our thanks for all of God’s goodness, to affirm our dependence on God in everything, and to return that love for us as our own expression of love for our Creator.
In this envelope you will find two additional items. The first is a narrative budget that provides a summary of the major elements of our annual budget. It shares these elements in the context of our desire to serve God through worship, family ministry, mission & outreach, care & compassion, and fellowship & education. The second item is a commitment card. We ask that you prayerfully consider your generosity and how your gift can be an act of worship at PCOL and how it enables our programming and mission.
We look forward to Commitment Sunday which will be held on November 7th and we are happy to provide you the opportunity to either offer your pledge cards as an act of worship during the in-person service, or drop them off at PCOL following worship. We believe that giving should be celebrated and what better way to celebrate your pledge than with donuts and the chance to say hello to each other! We will be in the parking lot collecting pledge cards AND handing out donuts from 11am to 12:30pm. We encourage you to stop by – we would love to see you and celebrate your pledge! Of course, you are also welcome to mail your completed pledge card to the church or use the link below to make your pledge any time between now and November 7th.
Above all, we are grateful for your commitment to PCOL through the use of your time, talents and treasures. No gift is too great or too small.
Commitment Sunday is November 7
All members have been mailed a Stewardship Packet for 2022, and we ask that all prayerfully consider their giving commitment for the coming year, realizing that it’s an act of faith. We realize that circumstances may change for people, but registering your giving intentions helps our leadership plan for the future financially. We ask that you drop your pledge card by the church after worship that day, 11am-12:30pm, and we’ll celebrate with you with donuts! And if you’ve pledged online (see below), please come by just for the goodies!
Pledge and give online!
This year, we particularly want to encourage everyone to register your pledge online, and to set it up so it gets paid automatically through your bank account or credit card. It’s easy! Here’s a quick tutorial and video.
