February is the perfect time to check out Worship in a New Key! WINK moves to 12:30 for four Sundays, beginning February 12th, featuring four unique themed services in the Meetinghouse. This new schedule will allow a “crossover time” with 10am worshippers, so that WINK attendees can also take part in one of the Institute for Christian Living classes that will begin on February 11th. These Sundays will also feature a brunch that will be offered at 11:15 for those who attend either service. You can even take your “bento box” into your class!
Please note that this new WINK schedule does not affect the schedule for 10am traditional worship, or for Children’s Sunday School.

WINK Worship: Jazz, Blues, Johnny Cash & Southern Gospel, Taize
These four WINK Services during this experimental time will follow four just as experimental themes:
February 12: Jazz Service. Tenor Sax by Frank Mazzeo and his trio. Frank is the jazz musician who accompanies our Good Friday Gospel Blues Service. We will explore how Jazz is a unique means to express the gospel.
February 19: Johnny Cash & Southern Gospel Service. Much of the sacred music of its time derived from the popular music that preceded it. Sometimes, secular music can speak to us of the spirit just as the music specifically written for church. We’ll be bringing in some special musicians to help us explore how the music of the Man in Black can help us explore the message.
February 26: Psalmist Sings the Blues. For the First Sunday in Lent, we’ll be exploring the Psalms of lament by means of a musical genre that emerged from the very depths of lament: blues music. Our own Andy Terry, along with Bo Child and a few other local musical heroes will help us explore the territory. Rev. Vamos begins a new series at both the 10am and 12:30 WINK service on the Psalms.
March 4: Taize Service. As is our tradition at WINK, we continue with the first Sunday of the month Taize service. If you’ve never attended Taize worship, it is a style of worship that employs singing as a means of meditation. Led by our WINK regulars, it’s a service in which the spirit definitely moves.
