“[For] it is in giving that we receive.” (Saint Francis of Assisi)

As we walk along the path of faith, the excitement we find in our developing understanding of all that has been promised to us and all that is available to us can be contagious. It makes us want to help others start their journey towards a richer relationship with God. There are many ways that we can encourage each other to grow in faith – through prayer, worship, Bible study, service and fellowship with other believers. Hearing people tell about their own journeys of faith can be inspiring and reassuring. We don’t all walk down the same paths to faith; sometimes the roads are rocky, winding or even off the map!

Sharing the Good News need not be uncomfortable or awkward. It has been said that it is simply one beggar telling another beggar where to find bread. We are passing on God’s goodness, love and grace – gifts that have been given to us for the purpose of sharing them with others. Learning to recognize God in others, finding fresh ways to live out faith in daily life and seeking the support and guidance of the Christian community can keep our feet firmly on faith’s path.

  • When have you been the face of God for someone else?
  • Describe a time that you experienced God’s presence through someone else.
  • How has someone else’s faith inspired you?
  • Think of how you would tell someone else about your journey of faith.  Write it down as a journaling exercise.
