Holy Week and Easter

Palm Sunday Service

April 13 at 10am

Imagine you’re in Jerusalem when Jesus enters on a donkey. Within the chaos and commotion of that scene, where are you and which way will you go? Join us as we enter Holy Week and wave palms and shout “Hosanna” together.

Maundy Thursday Tenebrae Service

April 17 at Slackwood Presbyterian Church

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” (John 13:34 NIV). The word “Maundy” comes from the Latin word “mandatum,” meaning “commandment,” and it refers to Jesus’ commandment to his disciples at the Last Supper: that they love one another. That night Jesus broke bread with his disciples and established the practice of Communion. On April 17, you are invited to break bread and take Communion with all three Lawrence Township Presbyterian churches at a Maundy Thursday service at Slackwood Presbyterian Church (2020 US-1, Lawrenceville).  The evening will begin at 5:30pm with a very simple soup and bread dinner (free of charge), and the worship service will start at 7pm. We will take Communion in their sanctuary and enjoy a special musical offering from a joint choir from all three churches.  All are welcome!

Good Friday Service

April 18 at 12:15pm

“Why have you forsaken me?” Jesus’ final lament gives voice to all those who have been forsaken in our society. Instead of trying to answer this question with logic or theology, we are invited to live it, to sit with it. What do we do in the face of such unimaginable suffering? Can we sit in the silence of death and trust that God is there? Will we be in solidarity with those who suffer and grieve? All are invited to join us for a brief worship service featuring a mixture of music and dramatic readings.

Easter Sunday Services

April 20 at 6:15am and 10am

On this Easter morning, who, or what, are you looking for? Why have you come to the tomb? What kind of veils need to be lifted so we can recognize God’s resurrection when it occurs? We’ll have two worship opportunities this Easter: our sunrise service at 6:15am in the graveyard and our celebration service at 10am in the Meetinghouse. Both will feature wonderful music and the flowering cross.
