Our Refugee Family Needs Your Help!
Our congregation is supporting a family of six who recently moved to the area from Afghanistan. The four children are home for the summer, and, while their dad is at work, their mom is doing a wonderful job feeding them and managing their care in a place that feels very strange to her. Would you consider doing one of the following to support her efforts? Following are ways that we can welcome this family to our area.
- Invite them to join you on a trip to the park — an opportunity to meet friends of similar ages, relax, and play. (Priceless!) Sue Steen will bring drinks and snacks — please call her to make arrangements, at (609) 468-8266.
- Donate new or like new items:
For 15- and 16-year-old boys
- Soccer ball
- Construction kits: LEGOS, K’NEX or similar, with minimal English instruction
- Card games like Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza or Exploding Kittens
For 5-year-old boy and 7-year-old girl
- Play ball
- Concentration-like card game for non-readers
- Art and craft kits/media
- UNO or Candy Land
