Are sugarplums dancing in your heads yet? Or tunes from your favorite carols? Come one come all for a fun festive evening of sugarplum making, carol singing, angel crafting, and sharing our holiday traditions. Invite your family and friends, wherever they are, to join us at this virtual event! Note below what to gather ahead of time to join in on making the angel craft or sugarplums together in real time that evening. Brought to you by the Deacons and friends.

For angel craft, gather ahead of time some items from around your home. For our sample shown here, Christine Madzy used an empty soda bottle body, paper doily wings, paper towel dress, ribbon hair, a pipe cleaner halo, and a glue gun. Other ideas: coffee filter, yarn, paper or toilet paper roll, markers, construction paper or felt, tape, glue. Let your creative juices flow!

For sugarplums, gather ahead of time:

Ingredients:
½ cup dried plums (prunes)
½ cup raisins
½ cup nuts (pecans, walnuts, or almonds)
1 Tbsp. orange juice (or amaretto liqueur or grand marnier for adult sugar plums)
granulated sugar for rolling
Equipment:
Food processor
Tablespoon or small cookie scoop
Bowl of water (for dampening hands)
wax or parchment paper
Fancy Sugarplums (all of the ingredients/equipment above, plus):
Ingredients:
marzipan and food coloring (Divide marzipan in thirds. Color 2 parts deep purple and 1 part bright green.)
powdered sugar
whole cloves
food coloring
sugar
clear alcohol or vanilla or lemon extract
Equipment:    
rolling pin
small knife
pastry brush or other food-safe brush (optional)
toothpick
leaf cutter (optional)
