Courage
by Keith Dewey
Speak Truth to power
and be free;
Stone cold hand
on open sea
No one yet has hold on me;
Fear be yours
nor let it be;
Gin my strength
gainst tyranny!
Captain! Captain! Of my soul
Guide my music
Sing me whole;
Forge my mettle
in thy coal
Lead me fast
beyond the shoal.
Suppression of oppressors past;
Just what’s done in love will last
Or can stand
Poor Satan’s blast!
Yes, I like my own poetry😀😀😀, but, even more, I would also enjoy reading and responding to the ideas and poetry of OTHERS on this site. Won’t you join me by making a contribution of your own?!
I even wrote two country music songs(!) that were inspired by the group I dubbed, “Bo, John, and The Retreaters” (i.e., our Men’s Retreat Group). I haven’t asked Bo and John yet, but perhaps we can even debut them at an upcoming morning or evening Worship Service? Anyway, long live creative expression!!!
Truth to power!
